Code of Conduct for Southport & District Tennis League

Tennis players are expected to

  • Play by the rules of the game and the rules of the league
  • Behave in a way that avoids bringing the game of tennis into disrepute
  • Respect opponents and always shake hands at the end of a match
  • Raise any issues with their team captain at the time
  • Use their best efforts in a match
  • Refrain from the use of audible and visual obscenity
  • Refrain from racquet/ball abuse
  • Never use intimidating, unfair or bullying tactics to gain advantage on or off
    the court
  • Win with grace, lose with dignity

Home Teams are expected to:

  • Ensure a warm welcome for visiting team and spectators
  • Provide refreshments in between and after completion of matches

Spectators are expected to:

  • Be on their best behaviour and lead by example
  • Applaud good play by visiting players as well as their own
  • Refrain from coaching, taunting or heckling when players are on court
  • Show respect for the opponent(s) of the player(s) and team that they are
    supporting
